This article spotlights North Carolina's efforts to bolster its direct-care workforce over the last decade. It outlines two programs -- WIN A STEP UP and the North Carolina New Organizational Vision Award (NC NOVA) -- that have been especially successful in reducing turnover, boosting morale, and improving the quality of care administered by direct-care workers. The article also highlights an effort to create career advancement opportunities for nursing aides through the state's Nurse Aide Registry. |
