Abstract |
This article highlights the necessity of preparing home health care workers for a potential influenza pandemic. Drawing upon suggestions made during a June 2008 National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health stakeholder meeting, the article recommends that any effective flu-preparedness program must incorporate accessible flu vaccinations, an income-protection system that allows flu-stricken workers to be paid for days missed while sick, and rigorous training exercises that specifically focus on handling a flu pandemic. |
