These websites and discussion groups for direct-care workers are full of useful information and lively conversation. Nearly all were created by direct-care workers.

NursingAssistant@yahoo.com: This 500-member-plus listserv was founded in 1999 by LNA Patti Green for nursing assistants and home health aides and other direct-care workers.

Certified Nursing Assistant Mailing Group: This mailing list is devoted to the issues and responsibilities faced by those who work or are considering working as certified nursing assistants in the United States.

Nursing Assistants.net: This website was created by licensed nursing assistant (LNA) Patti Green, who co-moderates the blog on its home page with LNA Heather Stout. Users can create or respond to blog entries and access information about the profession.

National Network of Career Nursing Assistants: This message board, created by Jeni Gipson, RN, provides an avenue for nursing assistants to share information about issues and concerns and to provide input to NNCNA projects.

Certified Nursing Assistants: CNA Rachel Giarrizzo created this site to provide information about the nursing assistant profession.

CNAs Are Compassionate: Heidi Rinker, CNA, created this website for all personal assistants. On the site she invites visitors to learn what it means to be a CNA, learn what a typical day as a personal assistant is like, and follow her for 24 hours in a wheelchair.

Sheila A Proud CNA: For Sheila Baumann, her work as a CNA is not only a job but a privilege. On her site she shares her joy in being able to assist the elderly in their time of need.

Nursing Assistants Only: On this listserv, CNAs talk to each other candidly about their experiences.

CNA No Holds Barred: Kev L. Dennis, CNA-CMT (Patient Care Specialist), created this listserv for all direct-care workers to "just vent about anything you want." Click here to visit the listserv's companion website.

4CNAs: This site was created by CNA Diane Marshall. It includes a "frequently asked questions" section, links to vendors that sell CNA uniforms and other gear, and lists CNA registries and ombudsmen by state. Click here to visit the site's message board.
