There is a great deal of variety in direct-care work. For example, CNAs and home health aides perform many health-related tasks, while personal assistants often perform none. The core responsibilities involve assisting clients with activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, and personal care. Direct-care workers often form close relationships with the people they assist, becoming an important part of their emotional lives.
