Karen Kahn, Director of Communications for PHI, is Acting Director of the National Clearinghouse on the Direct Care Workforce. She is responsible promoting PHI's “quality care through quality jobs” vision to key stakeholder audiences, policymakers, and the general public. Karen began working with PHI in 1998. Prior to that she was editor-in-chief of Sojourner: The Women's Forum for 10 years. She received her master's degree in anthropology and completed coursework for her doctorate at the University of Michigan.

Rob
Callaghan is PHI's Research Associate. He researches and writes
materials for the Clearinghouse and other projects, building on the work
he began as a PHI intern in October 2003. Prior to joining PHI, Rob interned
at an economic justice organization and a domestic violence shelter. He graduated
from Hampshire College with a focus in sociology, psychology and social theory
and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in social research at Hunter
College.

Elise
Nakhnikian is PHI's Communications Specialist. She is editor of Quality Jobs/Quality Care, the Clearinghouse's biweekly e-mail newsletter, and contributes to the development of the Clearinghouse and other PHI websites. She also handles media relations for PHI and provides editorial support to other PHI staff. Before
joining PHI, Elise was a journalist for about 20 years, including five as editor-in-chief
of Contemporary Long Term Care magazine and two as editor of two websites
for long-term care providers. She graduated from the University of Michigan.

Irma Rivera is PHI's Director of Information Technology and has several years of work experience with computer systems. She is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure and is currently managing PHI's websites. Irma received her MPA from the Robert Wagner School of Public Service at New York University and her bachelor's from the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York. She completed the MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) coursework in 2000. |

Carmen Rosario is PHI's Administrative/Library Associate. Her responsibilities include managing publications for the National Clearinghouse on the Direct Care Workforce and providing administrative support for PHI's staff members. Before joining PHI, Carmen was the executive assistant for the CEO of a telecommunications company in Manhattan for five years. She received a certificate of completion for office administration from Universal Business and Media School. |

Hadas Thier is the Web Content Editor of the National Clearinghouse on the Direct Care Workforce. She writes material for, maintains the content of, and works towards the overall development of the Clearinghouse. Hadas is a frequent contributor to a number of publications, writing on labor and social justice issues. She graduated from the City College of New York with a focus in history and English.
