The National Clearinghouse on the Direct Care Workforce is a project of PHI, a national nonprofit that promotes quality care through quality jobs. PHI works to improve the lives of people who need home care and residential care by improving the lives of the workers who provide that care. Its goal is to ensure caring, stable relationships between consumers and workers, so that both may live with dignity, respect and independence.

Founded in November 1998, The Direct Care Alliance (DCA) seeks to improve the quality of care for consumers through the creation of higher quality jobs and working conditions for direct-care paraprofessional workers. The DCA promotes recognition that direct-care paraprofessionals are the foundation of good care, particularly for long-term care clients.

PHI's Health Care for Health Care Workers (HCHCW) is a campaign to secure access to quality, affordable health care for direct-care workers caring for elders and people with disabilities.

The Center for Personal Assistance Services provides research, training, dissemination and technical assistance on issues of personal assistance services (PAS) in the United States.

The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) provides leadership and support for a comprehensive program of research related to the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities. All of its programmatic efforts are aimed at improving the lives of individuals with disabilities from birth through adulthood.
